SAN Sustainability Action Network a Kansas not-for-profit organization P.O.Box 1064 Lawrence, KS 66044 13 APRIL 2008 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE THE SUSTAINABILITY ACTION NETWORK, Inc, a Lawrence not-for-profit organization, will present a public seminar titled “Financing Renewable Energy: Business & Homeowner Tax Credits, Grants, & Loans”. The free seminar will be on 3 May 2009, from 2:30-5:00pm, at the Lawrence Public Library, 7th & Vermont St., Lawrence KS.
Millions of dollars worth of energy tax credits, grants, and loans can be leveraged by home owners, landlords, contractors, and businesses. Merging these resources into a finance package is key to realizing renewable energy technologies. This seminar will help participants decipher various financial tools and access what applies to them. With multiple legislative sources for Federal Energy Tax Credits such as the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the 2008 Federal Bailout Bill, the 2009 Federal Stimulus Bill, and multiple State grant and loan programs, it's difficult to know which provisions for which technologies may apply to your project or financial situation. There also are several websites that help sort through the options, but often they are incomplete or confusing. We have assembled a panel of financial and renewable energy specialists who will describe the more relevant tax credits and grants and loans, how to factor each into your project and your budget, and how to assemble a loan package and amortization table based on your available finance tools. The renewable energy specialists will also provide overviews of typical projects such as solar electric systems, wind electric systems, solar water heating, high efficiency construction, and solar space heating. Working with these examples, financial modeling can demonstrate how tax credits can bring the financing within reach, and thus make the project feasible on the ground.
