All the more reason to get a home energy audit.  The efficiency rating of a furnace or air conditioning unit does not factor

in inefficiencies in an HVAC system that stem from duct leakage, thermal bypasses, and building shell leakage.  By way of

illustration, a 94% AFUE furnace will be performing well below its apparent efficiency if it is moving heated air through ducts with

20% leakage.
