KCPL Commercial & Industrial Rebate Program- Overview

KCPL offers its Missouri commercial and industrial (C&I) customers rebates to help incent the implementation of business energy efficiency measures.  The C&I rebates are available for both new construction and existing buildings.  Decent Energy, Inc. has a KCPL Certified Commercial and Industiral Energy Auditor, and is able to help you evaluate how the C&I rebates may apply to your building or facility.

An illustrative list of measures that may be eligible include:

lighting and lighting controls;

air- or water-cooled chillers;

high-efficiency air conditioning;

high-efficiency motors or variable speed drives;

commercial refrigeration equipment;

energy recovery equipment or economizers;

high-efficiency air compressors;

energy management and system control; and

building thermal shell improvements

The amount and type of rebate varies by type of customer.   Small (Class A) customers are able to use prescritive rebates, and apply for custom rebates for measures that fall outside the list of prescriptive measures.

As a general matter energy saving measures will be considerered for rebate eligibility where the payback period is longer than two years.  Subject to the class and annual limits (see below) The rebate amount is intended to represent the lesser of:

(A) the amount that reduces the payback down to two (2) years; or

(b) fifty percent (50%) of the incremental payback.
