Westar Energy has indicated that effective October 1, 2011 it will offer its customers a subsidized basic energy audit under its new HomeAudit program. Decent Energy, Inc. plans to participate in this program and will be providing audits in Northeast Kansas for customers with Westar Energy electric accounts. Our Northeast Kansas service area specifically includes metropolitan Kansas City, Olathe, Lawrence, DeSoto, Eudora, and Leavenworth among others.
Under the current plan Westar Energy will require customers to make a $100 co-payment towards the audit fee. Upon implementation of energy efficiency improvements the customer will be eligible to receive the $100 back from Westar.
The audits under the program include the basics: blower door testing of the home's shell for air leakage, and testing of combustion appliances, and retesting after implementation of a single set of improvements.
Decent Energy, Inc., will be offering additional services that are typicially associated with our home energy audits- including: thermal imaging of the envelope, and evaluation of duct leakage testing through use of a pressure pan, and/or duct blaster. Additional charges will apply to these additional services.
Where customers wish to use our preferred contractor for implementing efficiency improvement measures we will apply any charges for additional services towards the contractor's proposed scope of work. We provide a disclosure of our financial interest in the building performance proposals.
For customers that wish to obtain our audit assistance for do it yourself implementation, or for work with a contractor of their choice, we will provide additional services as an independent audit firm. These arrangements will be fee only.
As always we will provide the convenience of a renewable energy site assessment as a part of the energy audit for those customers who have elected to puchase our comprehensive energy audit supplement.
Westar Energy has indicated that to ensure eligibility for the HomeAudit program, customers must speak with a Westar Energy representative at 1-888-967-5750 (1-888-WORKS50) prior to our coming out for the audit.
