Commercial Energy Assessments

Energy bills cutting into your budget?  Do have a number of ideas about saving on your utility bills, but don’t know where to start?

We can help you create a sensible strategy managing energy costs. We work with small businesses, family farms, warehouses, manufacturing facilities,  landlords, and tenants. We can help you succeed in your role as a facilities manager managing facilities at a school or a house of worship.

Are you aware of the the federal, state, local and utility incentives that may help fund some of the improvements?  We can help you assess some of the financial tools for implementing improvements, including perscriptive and custom rebates from KCPL and the Section 179D tax deduction.

Decent Energy, Inc., will help you take action to manage your energy expense and exposure to growing bills with very little financial risk to you or your organization.  Our approach involves a series of stages:

-a preliminary assessment and performance benchmarking, utilizing the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager;

-a "Walk Through" assessment, loads analysis, initial energy modeling, identification of low cost or no cost measures, and a identification of the potential efficiency improvements involving captial outlay that might be considered, together with a general range of paybacks for these (an  ASHRAE Level 1 audit); and

-a futher detailed analysis of energy end uses, further evaluation of the building shell, and further energy modeling of alternative measures involving capital outlay that may make sense, with particular attention to measure interaction (an ASHRAE Level 2 audit).

Our focus on process and deliverables that track existing best practices and standards can give you confidence that our efforts and scope are appropriate to developing the right energy solution for your situation.

Following  each step we include in person follow up and discussion of recommended efficiency measures, relative priorities, and the available incentives.  We only proceed to the next phase of work where our client agrees that further analysis and reporting makes sense.

In some instances our scope of work may also include:

-discrete lighting or thermal imaging assessments;

-data monitoring and consumption metering;

-assistance with formulation of custom rebate proposals (where applicable);

-implementation consulting assistance;

-measure verification;

-post implementation monitoring; and

-Reports to support use of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) Section 179D deduction.
